Sunday Love Note: Write.

From yesterday’s journal session.

It was early, still dark outside, the whole city seemed to be asleep. I don’t even think the birds were up yet.

I had been reading for about an hour and a half. Augustown by Kei Miller is an interesting story, with distinctive characters deeply rooted in Jamaican history, it’s a page-turner for me.

As I took the last sips of my coffee, I looked over at my notebook and wondered why my writing projects were taking so long to complete. As if I didn’t already know.

Writing is hard.

Journaling and brainstorming drafts are easy and fun but when it’s time to organize and edit … WORK.

I recognize the junction I am at, and it is an important one. I have been here many times before.

A pivotal moment where I am offered a choice, an opportunity, a gift.

A lot of times at this very junction, we choose the old worn comfortable path. The path that keeps us either right where we are at or the path that walks us in circles.

I currently have three writing projects I’ve started but have been putting off, often opting to read instead.

Why?

Because reading is easier. It’s funner.

Here I am, a lover of writing – not writing?!

All these ideas sitting in drafts. Such a waste of valuable resources (ideas).

This moment is pivotal. A junction where I have to decide.

Do I want to write?

Then write.

Because if I do not, the ideas and the dream will vanish.
