Sunday Love Note; a deep breath
There is an anatomical science behind how deep intentional breaths take you off autopilot, engages the vagus nerve and lowers the stress hormone, blood pressure and heart rate. It relaxes the whole body and calms the mind.
I used to wake up with a mind full of overwhelming thoughts. Starting the day on autopilot rushing and stressing. We shouldn’t have to wake up from a restful sleep worried about the day before it even begins.
Three years ago today I wrote a short note to myself.
I was preparing for a road trip and had a busy day lined up.
That day I wrote a quick note and called it a “deep breath”; a quiet moment with myself to write out my plans, still my mind and slow down the day before it gets started.
My writing sessions are like breathwork.
A gift. An act of service. Quality time, pouring out and back into myself. It’s respectful, it’s sacred. It takes me off autopilot, slows down my heart rate and relaxes my whole body.
I write love notes.
What’s your deep breath?
