One summer I went on a two-day solo writing & reading retreat at Hotel Emma, located in San Antonio’s historic Pearl District. I chose this hotel not only for its history and luxurious industrial atmosphere but also because it houses a library and is located next to one of my favorite bookstores, The Twig Book Shop. I experienced fine dining, drank delicious coffee and tea, I made new friends, bought and read books and wrote a lot. I highly recommend taking some time for yourself to do exactly what you love to do, whatever and wherever that may be.
The picture above is of a flower the cleaning lady left me with a sweet note attached. It invoked the softest smile from me, from the inside out. It reminded me that no matter what’s happening in the world, no matter where I go, Life is right there ready to bless me with its beauty and kindness.
Although they probably leave a flower for every guest, I received it at the deepest level. It felt as though LIFE itself took the time to pick the flower, wrap it in a bow and personally hand it to me.
Life gifts us moment to moment, but we must first recognize it as such!
I’ve been gifted with a love to read and write.
I show up out of pure love, zero expectations.
About Me
This blog is where I share the love and appreciation I have for reading, writing and the many authors who share their gift with the world. Here are some things to keep in mind:
I only read books I enjoy because our time on this earth is but a blink and there are way too many books waiting to be read by me.
I read all genres, but tend to favor horror, thriller, mystery and romance.
I like going in books blind because not knowing what the book is about adds to the mystery of the book itself. Therefore, I try not to give away book details, just in case you are like me.
I’ve been reading since I was a kid but took a break in my early 20’s because, life. I picked it back up in my mid 30’s and have not looked back, because life. 🤭
I judge books by their covers. And have a high success rate. I love a pretty cover and also believe that it’s more about the energy of the book, rather than the cover itself.
This blog leans more toward reflections vs. reviews because how a book makes me feel, also makes me think and I love talking about it.
I am a bookshop.org affiliate. If you purchase a book through my links, you support this blog while also supporting independent book stores at no extra cost to you.
