Mary by Nat Cassidy

Cafe solo date with Mary by Nat Cassidy

Oh Mary Mary Mary… How I love thou.

I recently had the pleasure of spending time with Nat Cassidy’s work.

First I read, Rest Stop, a splatterpunk horror novella that now has me side-eyeing all rest stops, late at night, in the middle of nowhere! This horrific nightmare mostly takes place in a bathroom. I knew right away I’d like his other books.

Then I read, Nestlings, a supernatural urban gothic horror.

Oh, Hello! I love haunted houses and this one is a spooky haunted high-rise luxury apartment building with a touch of vampire vibes!

Mary was next and ended up being my favorite because I’m a sucker for interesting characters and Mary was hella fun to read.

Her story is sensational, ironic, thought provoking and layered.

There are ghosts. A Serial killer. Splatterpunk. Reincarnation. It’s cultish. Misogynistic. Victims who become villains and later heroes. Self-identity and body image.

Geesh, Nat Cassidy threw all the tropes in this glorious horrific melting pot, and that’s why I loved it.

Nat Cassidy is 3 for 3. I’m looking forward to reading, When The Wolf Comes Home.
